We hope that you can join us for our final event of the year--a special trip to the newly-renovated Oakland Museum of California for a discussion on 'Curating Biodiversity.' We will meet at the Oakland Museum at 3pm on Wednesday June 1st.
During this event we will be get a sneak preview of the museum's soon-to-be-reopened Natural Sciences wing: "The collection of the Natural Sciences Department showcases California as one of the world’s top ten biological “hotspots,” and as the state containing the greatest biological diversity in the nation." We will be meeting with curators from the museum who will show us some of the prototypes for the exhibits they are developing. The trip will be an opportunity for us to think about biodiversity in a different context, and at the same time the museum is eager to hear our feedback on their prototypes.
Please RSVP to Vasile Stanescu (vts@stanford.edu) if you plan to attend the event and also indicate whether you are interested in joining the group for dinner at Encuentro Cafe and Wine Bar in Oakland after the museum (seating is limited, dutch).
