Gabrielle Hecht recently joined Stanford as the Frank Stanton Foundation Professor of Nuclear Security. She teaches in the History Department, and is also affiliated with the Center for International Security. She is the author of two award-winning books: Being Nuclear: Africans and the Global Uranium Trade (2012) and The Radiance of France: Nuclear Power and National Identity (1998 & 2009). She is currently at work on a new essay collection, Toxic Tales from the African Anthropocene from which this talk is drawn.
